CreativiTEA (aka: What a Little Paint Can Do)

A few years back, my daughter, Lyndsey, and I decided that my bedroom severely needed an update.  The paint was a pale, violet (which I love,) but it had grayed and was just depressing.  It was a new era -- out with the old and cold -- in with the warm and vibrant.
;^)

We painted the walls a warm, sand (golden undertones) to go with the rich browns and turquoises that I wanted to eventually add.  (Well, actually, we started out with an antique/rose color.  When we put it on the walls, it turned a bright peach!  (Peaches = good to eat ... not so good on walls.)  We decided to save that for something else.  (Can't wait to show you what in a later post.)  Anyway ~~ back to the paint store and we came back with the "sand."   ;^)
See how it warms up the room and glows?  Very nice.  My room does not look like this now, of course, with a few years behind this photo ~~ it has evolved.  (That means there is a LOT more stuff in there.)  ;^)  And the canopy got sacked.  I don't know why.  I like it.  ;^)  Maybe I'll put it back.  ;^)

But what I really want you to see is the turquoise blanket box at the foot of the bed.

I LOVE my turquoise blanket box!  If you knew what it looked like before we painted it ~~ you would understand.  I owned this piece for years ~~ picked it up many moons ago at an estate auction for 50 bucks.  It was a pitiful brown and it was UGLY!  (But I could see the potential ~~ I don't know why I didn't paint it sooner ... for years I just tried to find a place to put it.  It was moved ALL over the house ~~ believe me.)

Well, now it is one of my favorite pieces of furniture.  I do have blankets stashed in it (AND lots of fabric.)  ;^)  (Haven't you heard?  ~~  "She who dies with the most fabric, wins!")  ;^D

If you enlarge this picture, you can also get a glimpse of what a little paint can do for cement floors.   Several of you who know, have been asking to see photos of my painted cement floors.  (I do NOT like carpet.)  My home had wall-to-wall carpeting for years.  I could not WAIT to rip it out and do something different.  Paint was the best option for me ~~ until I could afford tile or wood.  I will do an entire post for you on my painted floors sometime down the line.

Can't wait to show you some of the really cool, amazing things that we came up with to accessorize my room.  ;^)  It's my favorite room in the house.  (Mainly because going back to college means that I don't clean house much.)  Who has time?  Not me.  I just go to class and then sit in front of the computer doing homework all day (and night.)  But I DO keep my room clean and organized.  It's my little sanctuary.  ;^)

THANK you for stopping in!  Please, let me know you were here ~~ I love to hear your comments.

Stay tuned for more CreativiTEA at CynDeeLyn's!  ;^D
