My mother and I were talking one day a while back. I was reminiscing about a little cradle that she had made for me when I was a child. She made it out of an oatmeal box. While we were talking, Mom said, "I wish I had one of those now." So, seeing how Ms. Claus overheard that comment, she set to work on it.
;^)
(Ms. Claus eats a lot of old-fashioned oatmeal....)
;^)
This is the cradle, which I covered by gluing fabric and ribbon to. I used 8 1/2" x 11" pieces of paper to fit to the cradle and custom fitted the pattern (after marking off where I wanted to cut it with a pencil.) I don't suppose any two of mine would ever turn out the same, as I've made more, and I'm not precise enough to come up with an exact pattern. ;^) (Patience is a virtue.) ;^)
This is the Sweet Gingerbread Baby and her little Cuddly Cardinal. (Mom collects cardinals.) I made them from a pattern that I've had for years and years.
This is the Cozy Comforter that I lined with fleece and tie-quilted just like my Grandma used to do. ;^)
I also made the perfect plump pillow for the Gingerbread Baby to rest her little head on and dream of sugarplums before Santa comes next week.
;^)
Oh, yes. How perfectly cuddly.
Shhhhh! (Baby sleeping!)
;^)

What a wonderful post - photos, too. Ouch! I hurt my nose trying to take a bite.

Oops...gotta watch the nose up against the screen...come on over and we'll make some REAL gingerbread!!!! (I'll have to do a post of the gingerbread (cake) that I used to make when I had the tearoom.) I served it warm with a lightly sweetened cream-cheese filling and poured warm lemon sauce over the top!!!!!!!! Mmmmmm - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for stopping by!
Hi. I was so pleased to see that you had come by for a visit and left comment to say hello on my blog! I soo love your little cradle, how cleverly put together it is. I never saw anything like that before but can imagine that I would have loved having such a thing when I was a kid. I love anything to do with dolls and doll beds and cradles! My daughter follows in my doll-loving footsteps now. You remind me of myself, I make things but often don't use a pattern and then later on when I want to duplicate, just have to muddle thru the best I can and hope it turns out looking the same! Have a Merry Christmas. warmly, Debby

Thank you for the compliments on the cradle. ;^)
It was great fun making it. I've always loved everything about dolls. In fact, I've got an idea brewing (for several days now) for a new post on that very subject!!!
Thanks again and you have a Merry Christmas, too!
